Amy & Brendan’s Winter Engagement Session in Downtown Ottawa
Downtown Ottawa in winter is honestly an underrated engagement session location. Yes, it's cold. Yes, the days are shorter and the light isn't always cooperating. But there's something about the architecture — the NAC, Château Laurier, the stone arches — that photographs really beautifully even on a grey day.
Amy and Brendan's session was shot by my associate photographer, who did a great job moving them through several locations in a short amount of time. We kept the session on the shorter side because it was genuinely cold out, which I think is always the right call — there's no point stretching a session longer than is comfortable just for the sake of it.
They started at the NAC, then moved to the terasse by Château Laurier, which is such a classic Ottawa spot. From there they headed into Major's Hill Park with Château Laurier in the background, and wrapped up at the arches — the side entrance to the Château — which is one of my favourite spots in the city for photos. The stone archway frames everything so beautifully.
