Danielle & Mitch’s Winter Elopement in Downtown Ottawa

There's something really lovely about an elopement. It's intentional and intimate, and the day stays exactly what it's supposed to be about: the two people getting married, and the people closest to them.

Danielle and Mitch had a civil ceremony at Ottawa City Hall, and I met them afterwards in the courtyard for some family photos with their small group. City Hall's courtyard is actually a really nice spot for this, with clean lines, sheltered, and it photographs well even in winter.

After family photos we headed out for their bridal portraits around downtown. We started at the NAC, then made our way to the terasse by Château Laurier, which is one of those spots that always delivers. From there we went into Major's Hill Park with the Château in the background, and wrapped up at the arches, the side entrance to Château Laurier. It's one of my favourite spots in the city. The stone archway frames everything beautifully, and in winter it has a really quiet, dramatic quality to it.
