Sierra & Alex’s Backyard Wedding That Felt Straight Out of a Storybook
Sierra and Alex’s wedding took place on their own property, and walking into the backyard felt like stepping into a fairytale. Their September day was full of earthy tones, soft pinks, terracotta, and cream. Every detail was thoughtful and romantic. The decor, the florals, and even the layout created a garden party atmosphere that felt effortless and elegant.
The morning started quietly. Sierra wasn’t feeling her best and was a little nervous, so we kept things calm. Instead of the usual pj photos with bridesmaids, I focused on details, gentle in between moments, and little scenes that captured the morning as it naturally unfolded. The groom got ready in the same house and both were relaxed about seeing each other. That laid back energy set the tone for the rest of the day.
Their ceremony was held at 11 AM, surrounded by lush greenery and soft early day light. Afterward, we moved into family photos and some portraits of the two of them. They wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests, so I documented the celebration quietly. I slipped into the background and captured people laughing on couches, playing lawn games, and enjoying the atmosphere.
The bridesmaids wore different neutral tones that blended beautifully with the overall palette. We did a small set of photos with them, complete with paper umbrellas that added a fun touch. The reception was relaxed, with finger foods, conversation, and the soft hum of a garden gathering. Later in the day, Sierra and Alex cut their cake while surrounded by family and friends.
Leaves were already scattered on the ground, adding to the early fall charm. The entire celebration felt warm and intentional, the kind of day that doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful.
