Natalia & John’s Fall Engagement Session at Mer Bleue Bog, Ottawa
Mer Bleue Bog is such a unique location for an engagement session. The wooden walkways wind through the bog and give you this really quiet, peaceful feeling — like you're completely removed from the city, even though you're not far from it at all. It was the perfect spot for Natalia & John's fall session.
Natalia and John both mentioned before we started that they're not usually comfortable in front of a camera, which is something I hear really often. What I've found is that most people feel that way going in, and by the end of the session they've completely forgotten about it — because a good engagement session isn't really about posing, it's just about spending time together in a beautiful place. And that's exactly what happened here.
They also nailed their outfits. Natalia wore a cream sweater with black jeans, and John wore a cream plaid shirt with khaki pants — the colours complemented each other perfectly and worked beautifully against the fall landscape. It's one of those things that makes such a difference in photos, and they got it exactly right.
We started on the wooden walkways through the bog, which are honestly one of my favourite things about this location. The fall colours were stunning, the temperature was perfect, and there was a quietness to the whole session that I loved. Some of my favourite photos from their session have that feeling of it just being the two of them, completely in their own world.
We ended the session by a gorgeous fiery-coloured tree with a champagne pop, which was such a fun way to wrap up the evening. Those photos turned out beautifully.
