A Peaceful Summer Engagement Session at Mer Bleue Bog with Michelle and Max
Why I Love Photographing at Mer Bleue
Michelle and Max chose Mer Bleue Bog for their engagement session, and it was the perfect setting for a warm June evening. This location is one of my favourites in every season. The untouched nature, long boardwalks, open sky, and peaceful stretches of greenery create a setting that feels calm and timeless. In mid June, the greens are vibrant and the sunset settles in beautifully across the landscape.
A Session That Felt Like an Evening Walk
Photographing these two felt easy and relaxed. Max is the quieter one, while Michelle brings a bright and bubbly energy that fills every moment with lightness. Even though Max said early on that he hates being in photos, you would never know. Together they fell into a natural rhythm, and the whole session felt more like a quiet walk in nature than a photoshoot.
Personal Touches That Made the Photos Unique
One of my favourite parts of this session was recreating some of their first photos together. Their pinky promise photo and the shot where Michelle lifts up on her tiptoes with their feet in the frame added such sweet storytelling moments.
We also had some fun with Max’s habit of reading every sign he sees. Michelle teased him about it, so we created a few playful photos of him studying a sign while she looked mildly unimpressed. It gave us a mix of humour and authenticity that reflected who they are as a couple.
Outfits That Complemented the Landscape
Michelle started in jean shorts and a soft white blouse, a look that felt relaxed and perfect for walking along the boardwalk. Later she changed into a flowy white dress that caught the light beautifully. Max wore cream pants and a green shirt that blended seamlessly with the natural setting. Together, their outfits felt cohesive, soft, and true to their personalities.
Ending With a Field of White Flowers
As the sun dropped lower, we stumbled upon a beautiful field of white flowers, glowing in the evening light. It was the perfect way to end the session. The last set of portraits from this spot feels peaceful and timeless, layered with softness and quiet connection.
Why This Session Stands Out
What I loved most about this evening was how gently everything unfolded. The setting, the light, and Michelle and Max’s energy created photos that feel sincere and warm. These types of summer engagement sessions, full of glowy light and natural surroundings, are some of my favourites to photograph.
“Thea was amazing and made us feel so comfortable for our engagement photos! Being two people who feel generally unphotogenic, Thea coached us through the whole thing and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We hope to work with her again for our wedding! Thank you Thea! :)”
